Family Self Sufficiency (FSS) Program

WHAT IS FAMILY SELF SUFFICIENCY (FSS)? Family self-sufficiency (FSS) is a HUD program that encourages communities to develop local strategies to help voucher families obtain employment that will lead to economic independence and self-sufficiency. WHO CAN PARTICIPATE IN THE PROGRAM? Section 8 and Public Housing rental assistance participants with the Altoona Housing Authority. WHAT DOES THIS PROGRAM PROVIDE? Financial Independence! Participating families move toward financial independence while saving money for homeownership, education, transportation and other job related expenses. FSS participants sign a Contract of Participation and complete a Family Development Plan that outlines the family's goals and objectives. back
